OUR PASTOR

Rev. Alyce French Johnson

A native of Louisville, Kentucky,  Reverend Alyce French Johnson is the oldest of five children born to the late Bro. George T. French, Sr. and Mother Dorothy Jewell French. She is the granddaughter of the Founders of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Reverend John Thomas French and Mother Lucy Mae French; granddaughter of Sis. Dorothy Mae Galbreath Bush and the great-granddaughter of the late Mother Gladys G. Brewer, who was a charter member of Oak Grove for 50 years. Reverend French Johnson has been married to Deacon Joseph Johnson, Jr. since February 14, 1981 and together they have one son, Reverend John Quincy Johnson, Sr. and a daughter-in-love, the former Jacqueline Beatty. Her grandchildren – Jasmine, John, Jr. and Julianna are the apples of her eye.

 

Reverend French Johnson began her career at Transit Authority of River City (TARC) in 1977 as a Customer Service Representative and by the grace of God, moved through the ranks in various positions culminating with her appointment as Assistant Executive Director, a position from which she retired on September 1, 2016. 

 

She earned her Masters of Arts degree in management from Webster University in Jeffersonville, Indiana, having earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication from Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky.  Reverend French Johnson is a member of the 2001 Class of Leadership Louisville and a 2003 Bingham Fellow.  She formally served on the Advisory Boards of the YMCA Safe Place and the Lincoln Foundation.

 

Reverend French Johnson was licensed in 2000 and ordained in 2008 at the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She has served faithfully as the Administrative Assistant under the leadership of Pastor Thomas Henry French. On August 13, 2017, upon  Reverend Thomas French’s retirement, Reverend French Johnson was installed as Pastor of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

 

Like David, two things Reverend French Johnson fervently believes she has never seen are: (1) the righteous forsaken and (2) His seed begging bread.
